Scar Revision
A scar is essentially the result of the healing of a wound, burn or sore, consequently leading to the formation of fibrous connective tissue. More often than not, scars can deter one’s self-esteem, especially when they are on a visible body part. In some cases of extreme severity, scars can even lead to limited mobility.
One of the most viable ways to deal with such inhibiting scars is to opt for Scar Revision, which is nothing but a surgical procedure. The procedure helps modify the scars such that the overall tone, colour, and texture of the skin is improved, thereby making the marks less prominent. It is important to understand that the scar may not get completely erased.
Given that it is a minor surgical procedure, most cases can be performed under local anaesthesia. In some cases of larger scars, however, general anaesthesia needs to be administered.
How Effective is the Scar Revision Procedure?
The results of scar revision vary from one patient to another, as they are largely dependent on a wide array of factors including the nature of injury, the extent of the wound, the site of the scar, as well as the extent to which it is healed at the time of performing the procedure.
When to Opt For Scar Revision?
In most cases, scar revision can only be opted for after the wound has healed completely, which takes about 6 to 12 months.
Who Can Opt for Scar Revision?
Scar revision can be conveniently performed on both, men and women. This procedure has been proven to be fairly effective on children of age ____ and above as well.
